Food Healthy Food
It is said "you are what you eat" and there's almost no food that creates more wonder in our minds than the "egg".
Just how can eggs appear from a single chicken at a rate of almost one a day?
Did you know that no bird is more studied and populous in farming than the chicken?
In fact, the question "which came first the chicken or the egg?" also places both in the midst of philosophical debate.
The credible fear of bird flu emanating from chickens and wiping humankind is the subject of periodic World Health Organization debate, and ironically the use of eggs to make vaccines is a well established practice. Some experts even suggest that a chicken's ability to learn and its complex social hierarchy are comparable to that of a human toddler - go figure!
Our relationship with the land and with farms is also increasingly surrounded by debate. The treatment of farm animals, including those chickens that provide us our daily egg is somewhere on the conscience of almost every shopper. Not even farmers engaged in intensive farming would argue that urban folks, all to often just want to shop and forget about the farming and the practices that are required to bring the cheapest poultry and egg products to market.
So we've dedicated this page to healthy arguments and rich articles written from every point of view.
We invite you to immerse yourself in the controversies of our time, digest some minutia, and wrestle right from wrong and possibly fact from fiction.
